The Caffeine Tour – Sauk Centre
It’s so easy to turn on a pot of coffee at home, or maybe grab some Joe at a convenience store on the way to work. While those are good, sometimes a person just needs a little more. More time. More flavor. More chances to reconnect. That’s why so many of us find a coffee house that offers a chance to talk and laugh and catch up with each other’s lives.
We start this ongoing segment in Sauk Centre with Jitters Java Cafe and a quick overview of other offerings.
Jitters Java Cafe
Jitters Java really is the most obvious place to start in Sauk Centre. The location is right on America’s original Main Street, it’s easy to find and there’s plenty of parking. But those are not the only reasons to choose Jitters Java Cafe. You’ll find smooth coffees served hot or iced. There’s a great selection of Harney and Sons Teas for those who prefer your caffeine the English way. There’s also a cold case with pop.
If you’ve spent so much time talking and catching up that you’ve developed a hunger, no problem. Jitters Java offers a selection of sandwiches, soups and deserts with features each week. Or try a baked treat from the case. Between the cookies, bars, cheesecake and muffins, you won’t find this to be an easy decision.
In regard to seating, you’ll have your choice of tables with a view, in the center of it all, or off to the side. There’s also a gathering place for small groups.
A few other notes of interest: There is a drive through who prefer great coffee on the go and a kids menu should you need to bring the little ones.

Other offerings in Sauk Centre
At the time of this writing, there were not as many offerings in Sauk Centre as online research would lead you to believe. The two other self identified coffee houses, Original Main Street Antiques and the Ding Dong Cafe, have closed. According to a sign on the door the Ding Dong Cafe closed in August but plans to re-open at an undermined date.
Aside from this, there are the standard offerings at convenience stores and restaurants.
There is a Caribou Coffee “drive through only” location under construction near the interstate.
